Acupuncture and Breast Cancer Overview

Acupuncture: Acupuncture, or the use of needles to manipulate the "chi" or body energy, originated in China over 5,000 years ago. There has been limited research on acupuncture for cancer pain, and the research that was done was shown to have mixed results. More studies are needed to determine potential benefits Evidence from several small studies supports the use of acupuncture at a specific point on the wrist (P6) which helps reduce the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. Electroacupuncture has been studied to treat vasomotor symptoms in breast cancer patients, but more studies are needed.Natural Standard Monograph, Copyright © 2008 (www.naturalstandard.com).
