According to a study published in the Journal of Critical Care Medicine, patients exposed to music therapy following
surgery showed an increase in human growth hormone.  The same effects were not observed in patients who
were not exposed to music following surgery.

Just listening to music can reduce depression by up to 25 per cent and chronic pain by up to 21 per cent,
according to a research paper published in the Journal of Advanced Nursing. People seemed to be more in control
of their pain (physical or psychological) if they listened to music for one hour everyday for a week.
