Yoga eases symptoms of menopause in women with breast cancer

In a study performed by the Duke University Medical Center, menopausal women with breast cancer showed a decrease in symptoms due to participation in a yoga program.

The study, consisting of 37 women who had early stage breast cancer, showed that participants exhibited a significant improvement in symptoms such as hot flashes and sleeping disturbance. The subjects also reported an increase in energy.

In a study performed by researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center which consisted of 61 women who recently had surgery for breast cancer and were now undergoing six weeks of radiation treatment, researchers found that those that did yoga twice a week felt better, had more energy, were less sleepy, and were in better general health than those that didn't.
