According to a study published in the British Medical Journal, acupressure was effective in reducing low back pain. Researchers from Institute of Preventive Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taiwan, conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial on 129 adults with chronic low back pain. The patients were given acupressure or physical therapy for one month. It was concluded that acupressure was more effective in reducing low back pain in terms of disability, pain, and function, as compared with physical therapy.
