In a pilot study, biologically targeted imagery (BTI) proved to be a better intervention for treating asthma as compared to critical thinking asthma management (CTAM). Researchers from Saybrook Graduate School, San Francisco, USA, found that both interventions improved the asthma symptoms, but BTI produced better results than CTAM.  Read more

According to a research study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, dietary patterns may influence the risk of symptomatic BPH. A diet low in fat and red meat but high in protein and fresh vegetables could reduce the risk of benign prostrate hyperplasia. It was also found that regular alcohol consumption could also reduce the risk of BPH.  Read more

Can Magnesium Help to Ease High Blood Pressure?

A double-blind placebo-controlled study published in the American Journal of Hypertension indicated that high blood pressure (hypertension) could be reduced through administration of magnesium. Seventeen adults with a diastolic BP of greater than 90 mm Hg were supplemented with magnesium for nine weeks (with the dose increasing by about fifty per cent every three weeks).  Read more

According to a clinical study published in the Journal of Postgraduate Medicine, the ayurvedic herb, Guggulu (Commiphora mukul), was found to be significantly effective in reducing weight in obese people. The researchers from the Swami Prakashananda Ayurveda Research Centre, India, conducted an open, comparative trial over a period of 30 days in 56 adults weighing more than 90 kg.  Read more
