The EU crackdown on herbalists and Chinese medicine practitioners who operate unregulated as well as the renewed debate regarding the safety of the herbal remedies resulted in a new law to be enforced from 2011 in the UK which aims to ban the sales of all herbal remedies except for those products that are used to treat minor ailments. Many herbal practitioners want further regulation - they want qualified herbal practitioners to be registered and herbal remedies to be sold only through licenced herbal remedy stores.
