A yoga therapist is a certified CAM professional who addresses specific health problems of the patient and adapts the poses/asanas accordingly. Yoga is a holistic discipline which believes that integrating the body, the mind, and the spirit can result in harmony with oneself and one’s environment. Exercise, breathing, and meditation are the three main Yoga structures. Yoga is useful for many conditions including high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, coping with effects of cancer treatments, depression, anxiety, digestive disorders, asthma, cold, obesity, HIV, gynecological problems, as well as musculoskeletal disorders.
