According to both modern medicine and ayurvedic studies, gout is a form of arthritis caused by a defect in body chemistry. It begins with a buildup of toxins in the joints because of poor digestion and a weakened colon. This condition most often affects men.
The symptoms for this type of arthritis known as gout include one or more of the following:
Fever and stress
Severe pain in muscle joints
Inability to bend fingers toes, or other small joints
Inflammation of joint tissues

Long Term effects of gout gone untreated include one or more of the following conditions:
Rheumatoid Arthritis and/or Osteoarthritis
Inflammation of the spine (Anklosing Spondylitis) that causes the joints of the spine to grow together
Fibromyalgia (Wide spread pain of muscles and attachments to the bones that occurs most often in women)
Lupus (inflammation and damage of joints and connective tissues throughout the body)

Scleroderma (disease of the connective tissue that causes thickness of skin)

Home Remedies for Gout

What to eat: It is recommended for the person wanting to heal from gout to be on a totally vegan diet. A vegan diet for gout would include an increase in fresh fruits, vegetables, and uncooked nuts and berries. In addition, the person should decrease intake of white breads and other processed foods. In addition, the person should use vegetable oil in place of butter or margarine, and should drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Furthermore, it is recommended to replace meats with plant sources of protein, and to drink rice milk or soymilk instead of milk from animals. This meatless diet will help clean out the colon, and reduce toxic buildup in the muscles that cause arthritic conditions such as gout.

How to eat: Along with choosing what to eat, it is important to remember also how to eat. When it is time to eat one should make sure to eat 4-5 smaller meals in a day rather than 2-3 larger meals in a day. This will help the body digest more foods more thoroughly, and the body will take in more of the necessary nutrients.
If unsure about what to eat, consult an ayurvedic doctor who can help assign a recommended daily allowance of a variety of foods. In addition, a person can consult library books, or search the internet for further information on diets that will help a person who is suffering from gout.

Exercise regularly: A person with gout should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Stretching exercises can loosen up muscles, and help reduce stress on the body. In addition, massaging of the affected joints can help as well. When possible, one should also go for moderate aerobic activity to help prevent further attack of gout. In addition to regular exercise, be sure to strive to live a balanced life. A balanced life includes time set aside for activities such as work, sleep, time with friends and family, hobbies, and prayer. A full life makes a healthier body, and a healthier body means reduction of the risk of problems such as gout.

Ginger remedy: Ginger produces prostaglandins and leukrotrienes. These substances help eliminate pain and inflammation of muscles. Studies have proven that ginger can relieve arthritic pain, and has done so with no side effects. People have taken ginger for arthritic pain and inflammation for up to two years.

Ayurvedic Medicines for Gout

Ashwagandha: This medicine will help in reducing muscle inflammation.

If you follow the above diet and remedy recommendations you'll most likely be cured quickly and be able to fight against the possibility of a future gout attack.

As a homeopath, I would first want to know about the person as a whole. Homeopaths determine a homeopathic remedy based on the picture of the entire individual. I would want to know their experience of gout, location, how they experience the pain, when the pain is worse and what makes it better. When did they first acquire the symptoms. How they feel about having gout. And much more. After choosing a remedy, I would also recommend adjunctive support for the gout, I usually recommend urtica urens in the form of a mother tincture. I wold also discuss dietary changes but that would not be the focus of my procedure.
