A double-blind placebo-controlled study published in the American Journal of Hypertension indicated that high blood pressure (hypertension) could be reduced through administration of magnesium. Seventeen adults with a diastolic BP of greater than 90 mm Hg were supplemented with magnesium for nine weeks (with the dose increasing by about fifty per cent every three weeks). It was noted that there were significant decreases in the systolic and diastolic blood pressures.
