About me
We focus on Yoga for Real People!
A community-focused yoga studio in Seattle's Phinney/Greenwood neighborhood.

All classes at our studio are taught in the vininyoga tradition. The viniyoga approach is an ancient methodology for customizing yoga practices to individual student needs. This approach has been handed down for centuries in India. In the past 100 years, it has been sustained in India and expanded to Europe and the United States by Krishnamacharya and his son, TKV Desikachar. It has been effectively customized to US audiences through the work of Gary Kraftsow and others in the past 20 years.

As described in the April 23, 2001 edition of Time magazine:

"viniyoga...is the most highly customized form of yoga. Viniyoga teachers cater stretching positions to individual student needs and abilities. Function is stressed over form, with an emphasis on integrating the flow of movement of the breath with the movement of the spine."

Viniyoga is a highly adaptable, meditative style of yoga that coordinates movement with the breath. It is a uniquely healing form of yoga and can be used by people of all levels and physical abilities, including those with limited mobility.

Our goal is to make yoga available and accessible to all people. We focus on yoga as a way to serve an individual's unique physical condition and lifestyle, not as a means of achieving the "perfect" body or posture. Join us and find a place to unwind, an opportunity to develop your mind and body, and a community of support for healing and growth. Ask about our yoga teacher training and our on site classes at your home or business!

A yoga therapist is a certified CAM professional who addresses specific health problems of the patient and adapts the poses/asanas accordingly. Yoga is a holistic discipline which believes that integrating the body, the mind, and the spirit can result in harmony with oneself and one’s environment. Exercise, breathing, and meditation are the three main Yoga structures. Yoga is useful for many conditions including high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, coping with effects of cancer treatments, depression, anxiety, digestive disorders, asthma, cold, obesity, HIV, gynecological problems, as well as musculoskeletal disorders. As with any CAM treatment, please keep your CAM provider and PCP informed of any alternative or conventional treatments you are currently undergoing to insure safety and suitability.
