About me
Shyama has been intimately involved in the study and practice of yoga since 1984. She studied and lived full-time under the direct guidance of Siddha Yoga Master Gurumayi Chidvilasananda for 10 years in both India and the U.S. She then received certification from six schools of hatha yoga and began her teaching career in San Francisco in 1996. In 1998 Shyama moved to Marin County, CA to continue her teaching career. One of her most gratifying venues there was teaching yoga to the Judges & Judicial staff at the Civic Center, which led to teaching yoga at the CA Judicial College summer education program. Also extremely satisfying was being hired by the soon to open (2002) prestigious Bay Club Marin to create and manage their yoga program. Shyama's Marin born husband lured her and their then 2 year old daughter Sierra up to Sebastopol a few years later. Shyama loves the small town experience of Sebastopol with it's community and ecologically oriented people. Here she offers her work with a passion and commitment worth checking out. Shyama has an extraordinary love for Yoga, which is evident both on and off the mat.

I've been teaching yoga since 1996 at studios, clubs, corporations, workshops and private instruction. My goal is to welcome new people to Yoga & Meditation via my Introductory classes, and increase the size of my weekly ongoing classes.
