Acupuncture is one of the essential components of Traditional Chinese Medicine; it stimulation of anatomical points on the body in order to restore and maintain health. The most commonly used technique involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by hand or electrical stimulation. Individuals visit acupuncturists for back pain, headaches, migraines, anxiety, insomnia, sports injuries, digestive problems, abdominal problems, menstrual cramps, weight problems, and infertility. As with any CAM treatment, please keep your CAM provider and PCP informed of any alternative or conventional treatments you are currently undergoing to insure safety and suitability.
