About me
If you, your friend or family member were injured in an accident or a car accident or in pain recently or chronic pain we would be able to help you in many respects.

Evaluating symptoms and alleviating pain is the most important aspect of our immediate care. If referral to another specialist is necessary, such as an orthopedic surgeon, an internal medicine specialist or a neurologist, we can assist you in finding the most qualified physician. If radiologic investigation, such as X-rays is required, they can be done on the premises and if an MRI is needed, we can refer you to the most appropriate facility.

Chiropractic has been based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body. Chiropractic treatment involves the science of locating areas of spinal malfunction, correcting them with an overall philosophy of naturalistic care.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for certain types of chronic back pain. Mechanical decompression works by slowly and gently stretching the spine, taking pressure off compressed discs and vertebrae. Spinal decompression is one of the most exciting medical treatments developed in many years since it demonstrates good results for long term pain relief.

Vertebral Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustment is a manual manipulation of the spinal bones. Chiropractors call this an adjustment because the procedure corrects the positioning and alignment of the vertebral bones. Proper vertebral alignment is very important to a patient’s general health.

Aqua Therapy / Hydrotherapy

Aqua-Therapy, physical therapy is performed in a warm-water pool, allowing for earlier intervention, greater tolerance of activity, and easier gains in range of motion with less pain. Aqua therapy can benefit any type of rehabilitation, especially for individuals who are not yet ready to perform exercises affected by gravity and weight-bearing tolerance. Aqua therapy reduces impact on joints, helps improve overall body strength and conditioning during post-rehab, and aids individuals who have weight-bearing problems, such as back pain. The buoyancy of the water reduces the stress of body weight on a particular area of the body.

Massage Therapy

Massage is a treatment and practice of manipulation of the soft body tissues with physical, functional and in some cases emotional purposes and goals.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a therapeutic modality that has been used by physical therapists since the 1940s. Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is put in direct contact with the patient's skin. Ultrasound gel is used on all surfaces of the head in order to reduce friction and assist in the transmission of the ultrasonic waves. Ultrasound has many benefits including pain relief, increase in tissue relaxation, increase in local blood flow and scar tissue breakdown.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

E.M.S. stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation. EMS is predominately used by doctors and physical therapists to prevent, or reduce, muscle atrophy. Atrophy is the weakening and loss of muscle tone, may be experienced after surgeries or injuries. EMS has proven to be an effective means of preventing muscle atrophy. Doctors also see EMS as a means of increasing blood flow to muscles, increasing range of motion, increasing muscle strength, as well as enhancing muscle endurance. Our muscle stimulator is used to treat muscle related pain, such as a spastic muscle, sore muscles, or tight muscles.

Orthotic (insoles) Fitted

by a computerized scanner that scans each foot and allows the clinician and patient see exactly the problem, if exist, and allows for a direct order of the customized insoles.

Range of Motion Analysis

If your range of motion is inhibited by pain we will be able to assess this problem using some of the latest technology.

X-Ray

Since Röntgen's discovery that X-rays can identify bony structures, X-rays have been developed for their use in medical imaging. Radiology is a specialized field of medicine. Radiographers employ radiography and other techniques for diagnostic imaging. Indeed, this is probably the most common use of X-ray technology.

X-rays are especially useful in the detection of pathology of the skeletal system, but are also useful for detecting some disease processes in soft tissue. Some notable examples are the very common chest X-ray, which can be used to identify lung diseases such as pneumonia, lung cancer or pulmonary edema, and the abdominal X-ray, which can detect ileus (blockage of the intestine), free air (from visceral perforations) and free fluid (in ascites).

Postural Analysis

Postural Analysis is a window to your spine that allows us to treat you more specifically and get the desired results earlier.

Functional Capacity Testing

Patients need to know their limitations. Often an employer or insurance company will ask for a report on what the patient can and cannot do on the job. If a job is physically demanding, we have appropriate program to assess how injuries affect body function.

TRITON DTS

DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy, a traction based procedure, is one of the leading long-term treatment options for treating low back (Lumbar) and cervical neck problems.

Often, the pain in your back or neck is due to a bulging or herniated condition of one or more of the discs that act as a sort of shock absorber or cushion in between the vertebrae that make up your spinal column. When your disc(s) bulge, are herniated, or simply wear out, the disc can press or pinch against a sensitive nerve, the result of which can be VERY painful.

Over time, your body suffers from the wear and tear of daily living, as well as the overall effects of gravity. DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy helps to create a negative pressure in your disc (decompression). Decompression is the result of proper positioning and tractioning of your spinal column. DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is an intuitive approach to help relieve the pain in your back and neck pain.

Foot Levelers

We have upgraded and updated our digital scanner to provide you with the latest technology to better serve you. Once you see your foot scans, you are more likely to understand postural imbalances and how custom-madeinsoles, Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers, could help you.

Aqua Massage

Aqua Massage uses water – but YOU stay dry and clothed! Ten minutes of aqua massage can equal 30 minutes of “hands on” massage. Feel relaxed, refreshed and invigorated after an Aqua Massage. Aqua Massage is recognized around the world as the best dry hydrotherapy system. No other piece of equipment has the same combination of patented jets, all working in perfect harmony to relax you and relieve your pain. It’s like having a whirlpool inside a waterbed. Soothing, relaxing and healing.

Chair Massages

We currently have 4 Chair Massage units at our facility. Providing supreme relaxation with a pre-programmed or custom configured massage session, this iJoy 100 Massage Chair will give you not only an enjoyable experience, but a therapeutic one as well. The iJoy-130 does what you tell it. Each of four powerful massage modes can be programmed to give you the touch you prefer. The controller has three different programmed massage sessions of fifteen minutes, which means you can kick back and enjoy a programmed massage whenever you feel like it.

The multi-patent Human Touch Technology massage system so closely replicates the therapeutic techniques used by back and spinal care professionals that it is the preferred technology of the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists. It is designed to follow the natural contour of your spine, and move three-dimensionally in four different modes.

NPP

For decades, doctors and clinicians have had difficulties evaluating pain. Where does it hurt and how much does it hurt? The questions are difficult to answer because they are rarely quantified by accurate measurement. Patients’ answers are almost always subject to interpretation. Combined with emotional bias and experience overload, patients receiving treatment for pain associated with accidents are usually treated on verbal complaints alone. The subjectivity hinders proper diagnosis and treatment.

Interferential Modulated

Compared with other methods of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), interferential current is a form of electrical therapy that delivers currents to deep tissues through the use of kilohertz-carrier-frequency pulsed or sinusoidal currents to overcome the impedance offered by the skin. Because very-high-frequency currents are not uncomfortable for subjects, 2 currents can be delivered out of phase; these currents interfere with each other within tissues at the point at which the currents cross. The resultant amplitude-modulated interference wave has beat frequencies of between 1 and 250 Hz, which have been reported to induce analgesia in humans. This method has alternating and consecutive modes with a customizable frequency option. This form of treatment can scan, static and target sweep.

Cryotherapy

Commonly used to treat pain conditions. Most forms of cryotherapy (eg, ice, cold packs, cold whirlpool baths, cryotherapy-compression units, vapocoolant spray) used as passive physical modalities (these include cryotherapy, heat, and electrical stimulation) of the management and rehabilitation of both acute and persistent pain conditions, provide transfer of thermal energy by conduction, with the exception of vapocoolant sprays (evaporative cooling) and whirlpool baths (convective cooling). The physiologic effects of cold application include immediate vasoconstriction with reflexive vasodilation, decreased local metabolism and enzymatic activity, and decreased oxygen demand. Cold decreases muscle spindle fiber activity and slows nerve conduction velocity; therefore it is often used to decrease spasticity and muscle guarding.

Therapeutic ultrasound is in the frequency range of about 0.8-1.0 MHz.

The waves are generated by a piezoelectric effect caused by the vibration of crystals within the head of the wand/probe. The sound waves that pass through the skin cause a vibration of the local tissues. This vibration or cavitation can cause a deep heating locally though usually no sensation of heat will be felt by the patient. In situations where a heating effect is not desirable, such as a fresh injury with acute inflammation, the ultrasound can be pulsed rather than continuously transmitted.
Ultrasound can produce many effects other than just the potential heating effect. It has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown.

The effect of the increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing. The intensity or power density of the ultrasound can be adjusted depending on the desired effect. A greater power density (measured in watt/cm2 is often used in cases where scar tissue breakdown is the goal.

Ultrasound can also be used to achieve phonophoresis. This is a non-invasive way of administering medications to tissues below the skin; perfect for patients who are uncomfortable with injections. With this technique, the ultrasonic energy forces the medication through the skin. Cortisone, used to reduce inflammation, is one of the more commonly used substances delivered in this way.

A typical ultrasound treatment will take from 3-5 minutes. In cases where scar tissue breakdown is the goal, this treatment time can be much longer. During the treatment the head of the ultrasound probe is kept in constant motion. If kept in constant motion, the patient should feel no discomfort at all. If the probe is held in one place for more than just a few seconds, a build up of the sound energy can result which can become uncomfortable. Interestingly, if there is even a very minor break in a bone in the area that is close to the surface, a sharp pain may be felt. This occurs as the sound waves get trapped between the two parts of the break and build up until becoming painful. In this way ultrasound can often be used as a fairly accurate tool for diagnosing minor fractures that may not be obvious on x-ray.

Some conditions treated with ultrasound include tendonitis (or tendinitis if you prefer), non-acute joint swelling, muscle spasm, and even Peyronie's Disease (to break down the scar tissue). Contraindications of ultrasound include local malignancy, metal implants below the area being treated, local acute infection, vascular abnormalities, and directly on the abdomen of pregnant women. It is also contraindicated to apply ultrasound directly over active epiphyseal regions (growth plates) in children, over the spinal cord in the area of a laminectomy, or over the eyes, skull, or testes.

Myofacia - Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofacia - Myofascial Release Therapy is a specialized physical therapy that affects and releases the restrictions within the fascial network. MFR is also known as Connective Tissue Massage, Structural Integration, Rolfing or Feldenkrais Technique. Although each of the above therapies employs slightly different techniques, the common aim of each of them is to release restrictions within fascia.

Chiropractic therapy
Chiropractors are doctors of chiropractic care, or D.C.s. They diagnose patients with health problems of the musculoskeletal system and treat the effects of those problems on the nervous system and general health through spinal manipulation or adjustment. Chiropracty is a natural, drugless, non-surgical health treatment which relies on body’s inherent recuperative abilities. Chiropractic therapy can be used for many aliments including pain, headaches, stiffness, and muscular spasms. It is also known to increase sense of well being and relaxation. As with any CAM treatment, please keep your CAM provider and PCP informed of any alternative or conventional treatments you are currently undergoing to insure safety and suitability.
