Ginseng Therapy in Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetic Mellitus (NIDDM)

The Department of Internal Medicine, Oulu, Finland conducted a placebo-controlled double blind study on the effect of 100 to 200 milligrams placebo or Ginseng administered daily to NIDDM patients for 8 weeks.

In this study, Ginseng was found to reduce body weight and fasting blood glucose, improve mood, and psychophysical performance. It was concluded that Ginseng could be a therapeutic appendage for NIDDM management.
