Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri) is commonly called "brahmi" and is used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine in India. Although bacopa is traditionally used for anxiety, high-quality clinical trials are lacking. The one weak study below found some evidence that bacopa reduces clinical anxiety. However, more independent research is needed. Caution is advised when taking bacopa supplements as numerous adverse effects including heart palpitations are possible.
