Broccoli May Help Protect Lungs from Damage Caused by Toxins

Apart from protecting the heart from strokes and attacks, broccoli has now been found to protect human lungs
from damage caused by toxins. A compound - sulforapane - found in broccoli increases the activity of the NRF2
gene in smokers with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and protects the lung cells from further
damage.
