According to a research study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, dietary patterns may influence the risk of symptomatic BPH. A diet low in fat and red meat but high in protein and fresh vegetables could reduce the risk of benign prostrate hyperplasia. It was also found that regular alcohol consumption could also reduce the risk of BPH. The study, however, found weak evidence for association of supplemental vitamin D with reduced risk.
