Traditional Chinese Medicine is fast becoming a viable alternative to western medicine in the treatment of food allergies (especially peanut allergies) and asthma. A review published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and supported by NCCAM/NIH indicates that a Chinese herbal formula, FAHF-2, is significantly effective in the treatment of severe food allergies in mice and has the potential of being a long-lasting therapy in humans.

Similarly, TCM formulas such as ASHMI, mMMDT, and DCT have the potential to be effective and safe alternatives or complements in the treatment of asthma. This study included major clinical trials on allergies from 2005 to 2007. In addition, ASHMI has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials relating to the treatment of asthma.
