While I trained at the Maple Counseling Center I participated in the Mindful Parenting and Infant Mental Health programs which helped parents think about their child's experience with their child. This often fostered a better relationship with parent and child which in turn allowed for a healthier environment at home. |

Ms. Carolyn Martin

Psychotherapy |
In Austin as a Licenced Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, I provide counseling & therapy to individuals, couples, and families. I feel that my first task as a therapist is to establish trust with my clients. Then I help them discover better ways of dealing with their world. My approach to therapy is compassionate, reassuring and solution oriented. I see individuals for depression, anxiety and sexual abuse. I see couples for premarital, marital, post-divorce, specializing in issues of infidelity, affairs, and cheating. I also see clients for parenting issues, specializing in the problems of new parents.
I use a multitude of therapeutic approaches: cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, psychodynamic, existential, behavioral, and family systems therapy, etc. Coming from a teaching background, I am acutely aware that clients have a wide variety of learning styles. I try to fit the method to the client.
When working with couples in premarital or marriage counseling, I assess & facilitate change using the research & methods of John Gottman. This approach for martial success is comprehensive and highly effective. I am a Certified Gottman Educator for the Bringing Baby Home Workshop also. For more info see www.gottman.com |

In regard to relationship issues, my expert knowledge of Marriage and Family dynamics produces exceptional outcomes. If you are having issues with your spouse, partner, significant other, business partner or parents, I can help. I work with couples in every stage of divorce for the best possible outcome for the couple and the family. I also work with individuals and couples to make their intimacy what it should be. I offer a very different outlook at your issues or problems and create a new, better relationship for you. Every day I see growth with my clients and I can produce dramatic positive change. Please contact me via email or phone at 610-310-5898 or matthew.gelber@att.net so we can discuss your situation personally.
My fee is $100 per 60 minute session. Unlike other therapist, I do NOT book clients back to back and there is no clock in my office, which makes our time together as stress free as possible allowing our time together to be the most productive.
I do offer extended sessions as well. Daytime, evening, early morning and weekend hours are available, I work around your availability to provide you with the ideal day/time to plan a session. As well as my main Malvern office, I do have a secondary office in Downingtown. I also offer home, office, school or hospital visits.
If you are interested in using your insurance, I work with all insurance companies as an out of network provider, meaning you would be returned 75%-85% of the fee from your insurance company. In some cases, this will be LESS than your co-pay, to make the visit as reasonable as possible.
Please contact me to discuss any insurance questions or my sliding scale fee. |
