My son sometimes gets asthma attacks and if it gets really bad we have to take him to the hospital. Is there a natural preventative way to decrease asthma?
One way to help your son would be to insure that he is getting a healthy diet consisting of plenty of nutrient rich (preferably organic) fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables also contain antioxidants which help prevent free radical damage. Also, children need plenty of quality sleep. These two things alone will help to boost his immune system and possibly prevent an attack.

Avoid dairy and foods which may create allergic responses. Dairy also increases mucous production.
Also, avoid sugar, simple carbs, processed and refined foods.
Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and may help with asthma triggered by allergies.

There is a strong connection between childhood asthma and anxiety. It may be useful for you to notice if such a connection exists for your child. If that is the case, it should be relatively easy to take care of. Also: depending on the age of your child, some specific breathing exercises could be very helpful.
