Q

What are the signs of anemia? How can I find out if I have it?

I'm usually very tired and feel weak, and I'm always cold. I sometimes have an irregular heart beat as well. I know those are some of the signs of anemia, what else? And how do I know for sure?

Tiredness and weakness are sometimes signs of anemia. In the case of anemia, the number of red blood cells are lower than normal. You can try to eat food that help you restore the blood cells number such as liver (you can try chicken liver is delicious)at least two times a week, spinach, drink nettle leaf tea or buy from a health store supplement if available. If after a month of treatment you still feel weak please go check your self ! You have something else !

The only way to know for certain if you have anemia is to get blood tests done (ie: cbc, ferritin, iron). Other signs of anemia can be pale mucosa(ie in the mouth), shortness of breath, muscle weakness, headaches, dizziness, nausea, swollen tongue, pale skin. Your symptoms could also be signs of other things as well, so I would suggest that you go see a medical practitioner.
