Please check into the program, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, and developed by Segal, Tinsdale and Williams (see their book, The Mindful Way Through Depression) research has shown significant success in prevention of relapse for depression. We offer this program at the Princeton Center for Yoga & Health which in the Princeton, NJ area. However, you can probably find this program offered by others around the country. Studies are showing that Vitamin D busts depression within a few days. 20 minutes of sunlight on a large part of your body (like legs and torso) 3 times per week produce up to 20,000 I.U. per day. In Germany the first line of defense for depression and anxiety prescribed by doctors is St. John's Wort.

Meditation and exercise have also been shown to decrease the severity and duration of depression.
